Understanding Digital Agriculture

Publication - Understanding Digital Agriculture Ten Years of Interdisciplinary Research at the #DigitAg Institute

Following ten years of collaborative research (2017–2026), the Convergences #DigitAg Institute has published a book on digital agriculture and the far-reaching changes brought about by the digitalisation of the agricultural sector.

Appréhender l'agriculture numérique - couverture

Bringing together a community of researchers from INRAE, CIRAD, Institut Agro, the University of Montpellier, INRIA, Acta and AgroParisTech, this book explores the tools and methods developed across the entire data chain: sensors, satellite imagery, data processing, artificial intelligence, decision-support systems, and more…

The various chapters detail their applications in phenotyping, sustainable livestock farming and food security, whilst analysing the effects of digitalisation on agricultural practices, ecosystems and production models in France and the Global South.

At the heart of this book lies interdisciplinarity. How can we bring together diverse areas of expertise to rethink the agriculture of tomorrow? This publication provides concrete answers drawn from a decade of collaborative research.

Published as open access, the book is freely available to anyone interested in advances in digital science and technology applied to agriculture, whether they are students, researchers or professionals.
