CALL FOR COMMUNICATION / 24ème Forum des jeunes mathématiciennes et mathématiciens

The 24ème Forum des jeunes mathématiciennes et mathématiciens will be held from 20 to 22 November 2024 in Montpellier (France) on the theme of ‘mathematics for the environment, agriculture and food’.

The Forum des jeunes mathématiciennes et mathématiciens is organised by the « Femmes et Mathématiques association » in partnership with the Mission pour la place des femmes du CNRS. It is aimed at mathematicians who are working on their thesis or who have recently defended their thesis.
The aim of these meetings is to promote the contributions of women in mathematics, to increase their visibility within the scientific community, and also to encourage and support their professional integration so that they can fully take their place within the mathematical community.

Forum 2024 will be structured around plenary lectures, during which established mathematicians will present their work, and parallel sessions, specifically devoted to the work of young mathematicians, who will be able to benefit from the feedback and advice of the senior audience.As with previous editions, Forum 2024 will also include:

-a mentoring workshop to advise young mathematicians on their applications for academic posts,
-events to raise awareness of the problems associated with gender parity (dedicated conference, play, workshop on the imposture syndrome),
-a round-table discussion on possible career opportunities,
-a speed-meeting session with secondary school students, at which all young women researchers in mathematics will be strongly encouraged to talk about their careers and their work (brief preparation will be organised in advance of these discussions).
We invite you to submit your contributions before 15 September 2024: you will find all the practical information here. All mathematical topics are welcome, as long as they lead to or are useful for applications in the environment, agriculture and/or food.
