On 1 and 2 October 2018, in Montpellier Dr Simon Cook from the University of Curtin (Perth, Australia) visited scientists of various #DigitAg member institutes (Inra, Irstea, Cirad and Montpellier SupAgro). He also exchanged with Carole Sinfort about the graduate school and higher education programmes.

Simon Cook is an expert in data science and technology applied to agricultural systems and natural resource management. Simon led the CSIRO Precision Agriculture Research Group. As Premier’s Fellow in Agriculture and Food at Curtin University, he builds and leads a research team to develop Western Australia’s capabilities in big data and agriculture.
He is now involved into the FoodAgility CRC, a hub for innovation in digital technologies and services for the Australian agri-food industry, of which his university is a partner, and with issues similar to those of #DigitAg. A common interest has also been identified on “On Farm Experimentation”, a new way for creating knowledge by involving the farmers in research that can be fostered by digital tools.
